Hello to all Symple Swingers,

We hope everyone had a great holiday (In the U.S.) on the 4th and you are out playing as much golf as you can. We have had a great summer so far, busy with lessons, clinics and always trying to improve on Symple Swing and efforts to help everyone enjoy golf more.

News and Notes

If you'd like a great deal on clubs this summer take a look at our sister site www.Accuswing.com We have a summer sale going on with 25% off on all irons, wedges and drivers. (Note: the 25% off will show up at checkout.)

Next, we would like to announce 2 upcoming clinics.
We will be having a clinic in Orlando Florida on Saturday July 28th.
If you are interested in attending please email me –
Mike@simplegolf.com or call 407-340-9420

Next, we will have a clinic in Norfolk Va. On Saturday August 4th.
Again if you are interested in attending please email
Mike@simplegolf.com or call 407-340-9420

We had a great Clinic in Baltimore a couple of weeks ago. If you'd like a Clinic in your area just let us know at support@simplegolf.com . We look forward to helping everyone hit the ball longer and straighter while learning a consistent ‘symple swing’.

Look for announcements in the next few days concerning both clinics.

Also we are working on (actually Joe is working on) implementing new software which will allow us to analyze your swing thru web video and compare correct vs incorrect swings of yours. We will be making an announcement soon.

Again we would like to thank our growing list of Symple Swing teachers, all are working extremely hard giving lessons and spreading the word about Symple Swing to all frustrated golfers. Mike Pavese in San Jose, California is our newest Symple Swing Certified Instructor. Details for contacting Mike are on our "Instructors" page at http://www.simplegolf.com/instructors.htm

Symple Swing Shirts And Caps
We are also excited to announce Symple Swing shirts and hats are now available for a very reasonable price. If you are interested in a great golf shirt with the Symple Swing logo or a hat or visor with the Symple Swing logo just click below and check out the options.
This is a great opportunity to help junior golf as a portion of the proceeds will go to help junior golf here in the central Florida area.

July Swing Tip
We need to review some basic Symple Swing fundamentals that get overlooked and cause some bad ball striking or swings.

First, (discussing full swings) there should not be any lateral (side to side) movement in the backswing. When you keep your weight on your back leg, knee and foot then your backswing is truly just a turn or coil of the upper body.

This means, AS YOU LOOK AT YOURSELF IN A MIRROR OR WITH CAMCORDER, (please) make sure that your back hip and or knee is not sliding laterally or outside your back foot. To really get the feel of reducing lower body motion try the T-Lock Stance . http://www.simplegolf.com/tlock.htm That's a good stance to learn to reduce excessive lower body motion.

Note: We are NOT saying that there isn't any movement at all in the lower body with Symple Swing. There is movement but it's more of a turn on the backswing. On the downswing there is more movement with the hips and the back leg adding power during the downswing The key is that this lower body movement happens "in response" to the turning of your core (upper body). The lower body motion in Symple Swing is not a deliberate motion but when you do a core powered swing the lower body motion will happen automatically without conscious effort.

If you have ‘got’ this down, this will now allow you to keep your head still during your swing. This is vital to hitting a ball clean because if your head moves or sways, either side to side or up and down then the bottom of your swing arc changes. Why is that so important? Because that is where the ball is, where you addressed the bottom of the ball with the bottom edge of your club face. So if your swing arc bottoms out before the ball you are hitting it ‘fat’, and if your swing arc bottoms out past the ball you will be hitting is thin or ‘skulling’ the ball.

Try "The Shadow Drill" ( http://SimpleGolf.com/shadowdrill.htm ) to check for head movement, or look at a video of your swing to really see it.

Next, if your backswing coil and uncoil are done correctly, and your getting to the ball with no unnecessary movements then check for right hand grip pressure either exerted by a too strong right hand grip or a too strong right arm bicep and tricep.

All 3 parts of your right arm should be relaxed, not trying to generate power or you will be slapping at the ball, hooking and generating little power.

The power of the golf swing comes from the upper body uncoiling, swinging the club with centrifugal force. Not from the right side pushing the club to hit the ball.

Here's a drill to help check your self. Hit some balls using either a quadruple overlap grip, or triple overlap and pinch thumb and forefinger, still with no part of the right hand powering the club. If it feels weird or awkward --- guess what, you are probably having some inconsistent ball striking due to an overactive right hand and arm.

Also learn to relax your right arm at the top of your backswing, it should feel limp or relaxed with no muscle tension and the back elbow should be pointed downward. Remember swing the club with your upper body not with your arms and the ball will go dramatically farther and much straighter.

I hope this helps a few of you improve your consistency and accuracy. Please let us know how its going and if you have any questions do not hesitate to call or email Joe or myself.

Good luck and take care.
