At last ! I finally get to post my own success story.

I had promised to give the symple swing a year, without chopping and changing and trying to change everytime I read a new tip in the latest golf magazine, I also promised to post a success story on the forum, only after hitting 3 rounds in a row in the 70s.

I would have to confess that I was somewhat sceptical, 'power stance', 'power grip' and only bought the DVDs gradually, and after seeing and feeling the progress and having the basics bought the 'Own your own swing' which seemed to tie everything together.

So here I am alomst 11 months down the line with two 78s and a new personal best of 77 !! and finally a sense of playing golf.

It has not always been plain sailing, I suffered from a really bad hook for a long time, made a change from a really bad slice .

I was always going to take up the offer to send in a video of my swing to have it analysed, but after watching it, I realised I wasn't doing the symple swing at all and still had some CG hadits carried over which was causing all the problems !

So 11 months down the line, I've added 30-40 yards to my drives, hitting a lot more greens in regulation, I've had 3 hole in ones, and won a lot of money from my playing partners, I think changing to symple swing has paid for itself !

A big thank you to Joe, Mike and Chuck and to all the symple swingers for all the help and feedback.

Have fun

Harvey.

Wow, great work, Harvey! Do you mind if I "borrow" a few of those holes in one? I need to get some of those on my resume!

Harvey

Now maybe after all that success you can post some video of your swing so we can all see your great swing.

I know a phone call to you is difficult as you are far away/ i would love to share a few insights and hear what helped you the most 'turning' the corner. We could do skype video call if you have a web cam or just a regular phone call - your morning my night ?
if not we could share thoughts with email - i have a lot of respect for the guys who stay with it and conquer golf - the feeling of truly playing golf knowing here is another good swing is fantastic.
how much visualization do you do at address?
is top of backswing more important to you or finish position?
anyway love to pick your brain so as to help me help others with 'the battle'
great job and utmost respect and congrats!
stay with it
Mike O

Mike,

thanks for the kind words. I'm really please with my progress with Symple Swing but I don't think I'm out of the woods quite yet...literally . I still have the occasional mad hook from time to time.

The biggest difference had to be really getting my short game together, when I shot the 77 it was the short game and putting that saved me when I got into trouble.

To answer some of your questions Mike, for me there are three things that I try to focus on:

1.) A slow take away getting to a correct top of the backswing position.

2.) Good tempo on the downswing, not trying to force the swing which usually brings the arms/hands into play resulting in my mad hook.

3.) Focusing on where I want the ball to go, focusing on the target during set up to ensure good allignment.

Sorry, nothing revolutionary, just all the same things that are in the instructional DVDs.

The finish position just seems to take care of itself, when you swing down the target line and it's not something I tend to focus on.

One of my playing partners once gave me the advice, ' Never give up, a birdie can right a lot of wrongs.'

So basically, practice, have fun and watch the symple swing DVDs until your humming the theme song in your sleep !
