Hi Just received my symple putter - what a dream. Still getting into symple putting so using it conventionally in comps. When I am using SP method note that from above the putter travels in an arc - swing door. Should it definitely travel in a straight line? obviously that is preferred but what am I doing wrongly also have trouble with striking the puts a long way without using a lot of right hand, so us conventional from a distance. not sure if it just a week wrist?? any ideas
Ivor arc vs straight back and thru is a result of your wrist and hands action /// if you can only break your front wrist straight back then club head will go straight back, if you roll your front hand slightly then club head travels in an arc. either is fine, depends on what you or your minds eye perceives as 'correct' I putt in a slight arc on backswing but finish perfectly straight down the line on finish/ this is most important that the finish position is straight down the line knowing putt or ball is traveling on exact target line (this also shows club head left means pull vs club head right means push) put a club down just outside target line - just outside edge of club head, now swing the putter head- see what line it travels on in backswing... MOST important part of bs is 'top of bs' meaning is club face still at zero degress on straight back and thru or is it open or closed?? if an arc stroke it still is to be a zero degrees to the arc not opened or closed. straight down the line to finish with perfect club face
let me know how this helps and again refer to instructional dvd for all above.
