Hi flopper,
Glad to see that distance improvement with the driver. If you keep that up you will be hitting a bunch of your goals this year.

I belive I found out how to do it. It rained hard today so it was hard to judge how consistent I could be. still work in progress tho. Playing tomorow as the sun is going to show up.
I am working towards consistency atm. to get same feel in the turn and whip with all clubs.

My thumb is soar and painful. So, I had to change my grip and make a full wrist around the club to move the thumb out of the way.
I started to hit the ball, better, typical. so did hit a bucket at the range to make sure I could swing like this, my sisters kid was trying to outdrive me. However, hit all clubs good and well.
Long, acurate and felt the drag of the shaft and clubhead. tomorow, the course will be tested with this.
Carefully optimistic.

Playing tournament tomorow. 18 holes with cut for 9 holes with sudden death play off. 10 ppl goes to that extra sd.
Spent this day to prepare, played 9 holes, did make some good shots, but putted horrible. finnaly found a grip that makes me feel good about it which was tested on the practice green after. all feels fine, pitching, chipping and putting. I also are able to smoke the ball the distance I like now. The grip change by removing the thumb, helped. go figure.

competition. shot 90. started on par 3, +5, lost first ball, second in water. +2 next 7 holes. hacked, par 5, +5. then played ok, lost a few shots the last 4 holes due to being tired and hitting the clubs to far, hitting 2 almost 3 clubs longer.
satisfied with my game, just made 2 big mistakes that cost a lot of shots.

My thumb started to hurt, got a knuckle that swelled. So, removed the thumb and wrapped it around the shaft.(3 finger overlap with right hand) started to hit longer, much longer on irons. I still got some kinks to work out with it as it is easier to go left and hook as I use this. I dont have much choice as the thumb hurts heh.
With this I can feel the club lagging, and hit good shots making good contact. For me this, feels "better" as I now know I can hit the ball the distance I want. I had 4gir today, I also had, 10 shots that was almost on green. a few I had to chip but many was putt doable. so even if I had a bad gir reg day, my shots wasnt much off. If I wasnt to tired at the end I would have had 4 or 5 shot less without much effort. Hit 9i 145yards carry, over green at 17. chipped over green at 18. chipped and 3 putted last green. 31 putts with two 3putts.
So, for me this feels better, and I can play golf without concerning myself with the swing. Just make sure I follow the set up properly, swingplane and such. I carry the ball further with the driver, added 30 yards or so. I feel I can go for it. Helps. So as it is, I am currently happy with the game, and I am confident to get some good scores the coming rounds. Tomorow I have match play match in the clubchampionchip. That be fun.

yup. sounds funny, but helped for me, but I have never been a left hooker or such. Its easier to hook the ball, so keep rotating out of it works well for me. I be on the range a little tomorow to work on grip, as I like to test 2 finger overlap also. My indexfinger has a old scar on my right hand I need to bandage to not cut it open. (my hands are a mess hehe)
What basically did happen is that I now can "lag" the club so the hit comes late, no idea why I never was able to do that or feel that before. The swing feels more natural to me now.

Resting for 2 days. Matchplay been suspended due to bad weather, rain and thunderstorms two days in a row. Going to play today though.(sunny) Saturday it will be 18 holes in anoher competition at my local club from back tee, pure stroke play.
Currently happy with ballstriking. Have the distance and are able to hit straigt. Still working on ballflight and consistency. Finding out where to look and position to tun and whip around the left shoulder has helped immensly. I can now stay still and turn around my axis.
I am focusing to score now, to be able to go low, really low.
Played competition at tuesday which allowed me to find what to do even if I had 2 blow up holes. Was 4 over for 12 holes except the two blow up holes +5 in each, due to bad striking. Lost 5 shots the last 4 holes due to becoming tired in the head which crashes my system.
Progress is being made. Last few rangesessions have shown stable ballstriking. will see how it goes on the course in match play.

won my first match in the clubchanpionchip. played decent and made just 3 mistakes. No birdies though even if I had a few chances.
My best performance in match ever. solid and good play. missed a few easy up and downs which smolked it a little.
tomorow competition 18 holes from back tee. that be fun.

Played 18 holes in tournament back tee. shot 87. 8gir. four 3 putts. zero 0% up and downs. 39putts. No birdies 43/45=87.
Long game fine. short game sucked ass big time. couldnt chip and left everything 7feet or more off pin and didnt make anything with the putter and then adding salt to wound I had four 3 putts.
worst round I ever played with the short game which normally is one of my best traits. didnt feel comfortable with the chips nor the putts. 2 last putts I had was the best on all day, didnt go in either.
First nine holes, 6 over with two 3putts. should have been 2 or 3 over.
Last nine I was most likely both drunk and mad, as I had only one par even with 3gir. I hate golf sometimes.

Played 18. shot 86. 7gir. was 3 over after nine holes, made eagle on third hole, topped wedge that went in. Back nine was a mess, one tripple, one quad, and one double, missed birdie putt from 4feet and one from 13 feet which I left 7feet long and three putted.
cant chip properly, all chips is 7 or so yards of each time and isnt making much putts. 2 rounds, NO up and downs, None, zero none. and tom watson lost when he had played his best in years and then adding salt to the open wound I lost my wallet, forgot it on my car and drove off. the day just suck ass.
for the chips, I will shift to practice more clubs and find out the distance each club roll the ball as I am sick of not making up and downs properly.
Long game is decent, havent lost a ball in 2 rounds. distance is good, could be better but still work in progress. to much off with irons not much but enough, not making enough gir.
Putting is fine again. made 3 or so longer than 3 yards.

Played for the club, lost the foursome but I won the single match. had great fun as I found how to make solid contact and hit the 4i 220yards (carry/roll). the course had plastic greens and was super fast. all shots ahd to be high and stop on a dime or they run off the green, was funny.
after the round I hit some drives using the same way I hit my 4i, and nailed the drivers. No idea how far tho.
I be playing tomorow with a friend, so then it be tested. was 4 over last nine holes on a new course with speedy greens and that with a double uneeded bogey at the easy par 5. had great fun in the match as it was tight all the way.

Good job keep up the good work !!!
"after the round I hit some drives using the same way I hit my 4i, and nailed the drivers. No idea how far tho."
Your statement above you mentioned that you hit the Driver same way as the 4 iron was this a diffenrt way than normal ?

yes. In my estimation I do it differently in how I percive it. This stuff is tricky as I cant say, oh, now I feel this and its "new" when maybe its just different.
I when I do this, it works. I feel the clubhead lagging and when I do this it works. Most likely I am on plane and all that stuff and do things properly.
I just found this out on the range, before going out. but might be a one day thing hehe.

Would that be because you are using the core (shoulders etc.) instead of the arms as much ?
I have never really been able to hit a 4 iron so that is one reason i am so interested. |

What I can note is, I am able to lag or have what I sense as a late hit, the clubface is dragging behind and I can make the sit down and let the clubface come down and I have had several shots I felt ballimpact first then hit the ground on shorter irons which able me to compress the ball good. Ball stop fast on green.
The above allow me to turn around the left side faster, which happens almost naturally and I need to wait until the hands and arms hit the position where the clubface drags then its almost autopilot. If I dont wait for this position, I open the shoulders up and hit the ball left.(hook or pull)
I am having a draw on the 4i when I do this. Hitting longer than people who use driver and 3w, is kinda fun hehe.(never been able to before) But this is with the modified thumbgrip where I move the thumb out of the way, I cant have the thumb on the shaft as this slows everything down for me. I still check to have the same hand position as with the thumb so I dont rotate the left hand. When I do this properly, and I played today however in rain and very wet conditions, I was able to make good distance and had some nice shots. Was +6 after nine holes but that was due to bad chipping.
Bogey 1.Missed up and down. (good approach shot.) made par on 2.made the up and down.(hit it a little left) bogey on 3.Missed up and down. (Good shots) Bogey on 4. Bad drive, lost grip due to rain.(good shots to green) Bogey on 5. Missed up and down. Bogey on 6.Missed up and down. (good drive and missed the 5i badly in rough.) par on 7. Missed birdie putt. par on 8. Missed birdie putt. Bogey on 9. Missed up and down.
Rain made the playing conditions hard. However, I still have good distance with the grip and whipping trough. smoked the drive on first hole, carry around 215yards.
so if I make the shots properly, I either hit the green or are very close. Now I need to figure out why I hit the chips so long. that dosnt help me score. My chip are ok, leaving them 7feet or so to the hole hurts the score a lot. I just had one chip that was within 1foot today. and didnt make any putts

Rested 3 days. Played for the club in our small serie today. we won the 4some and I shared the single.
The clubchampionchip is coming up. august 1 and 2 and I am on track with the progress.
Hit my 3w flush on 18, and I hit it as far as I hit driver on my best days last year under better conditions, today it was so wet, the ball always stopped dead on fairway.(250y or so) made green with 52wedge and 2 putted. won the hole as he missed the par putt.
I have finnaly got down how to make the shots slowly, and feel better and better out there. I shot 83 or so in this matchplay, not happy with the score but it was wet, rained a few holes and I had issues with the grip slipping. Got to get rain gloves hehe. Lost one ball due to bad shot. overall, solid without anything special.
