I keep reading about the Power Thumb grip but I don't recall ever seeing anything specific about what the grip actually looks like. Could you please point me to a post or link that describes in detail what it actually is? Also, when you talk about moving your thumb to the 1 o'clock or 2 o'clock position are you just moving your thumb or are you actually rotating your left hand so that the thumb is in that position?
Thanks.

check under most asked questions of the swing. or use search
Your rotating the hand, so its flat and then take the grip. There is some short clips where Mike demonstrate this with a student. Testimonials I think.
I would however argue to buy the DVD´s with the swing. Its a bargain and are pretty clear cut in how to proceed with the system.
I got them all
From 11hcp to tourpro level 2008? The test of Symple swing system are going hardcore ;) |

Just wanted to let you know that I tried the PowerThumb grip and also changed to an overlap grip instead of interlocking. Both felt really good and helped to straighten everything out. I also tried the T-lock stance since my lower body had way too much movement which made it really hard for me to get everything working together. The T-lock stance worked well. My son also pointed out that I was standing pretty far away from the ball (to bent over). So moving closer and standing up straighter helped and added a little draw. I was just working with a pitching wedge, but could see a definite improvement. I'm hoping to get to the range this week so I can work with my irons to see what happens.
Thanks, Brad |

Brad great to hear positive results/ tlock is a asset in learning quiet lower body/ tell son great job as I see way too many golfer 'bent' over at address, upright is so important to a good swing ie swing plane, torso coil not arm swing, head still etc it all fits in because of posture. a draw is perfect for our swing method as club face does not rotate/ let us know how range works out good luck Mike O |

I just got back from the driving range and I used the power thumb at 2:00 and expermented with it in the 1 and 3 positions. Since I have been having problems hooking the ball (really bad). With the thumb in the two o'clock position and standing closer to the ball I still hook but only about 5 yards which I think is fine, of course I had the stray shot here and there but a majority of them were right on target. I also have been going back to the DVD for fine tuning my foot position and hips. I also tried to find a way so that when I line up to the ball it will always be in the same position so I am putting my feet together and puttin the ball off my left little toe (I am right handed) and moving my left foot to the left and flairing my right foot where it is, but on the driver I only move my left foot about two inches and my rigth foot about 5 inches and flair it it seems to put the ball in the same position all the time with the same clubs (at my age if I can remember).

Hi
Judging ball position related to your foot position is a losing proposition.
Read this article on Ball Position http://simpleswing.forumco.com/topic~TOPIC_ID~300.asp Judging ball position related to your front shoulder is a much more dependable method.
If you have any other questions just ask.

hi jackll,
regarding the hook:
one question for you, when in your swing do feel that you let your wrist uncock? if it is anywhere BEFORE impact there is a damm good chance of a hook!!!
in my opinion, regarding what i feel in my own swing, the hook presents itself when i "release" the golf club too early.
by that i mean if i allow the right hand to pass over the left too soon, the hands almost turn over, or flip, so fast that a hook is inevitable, a big tell tale is both hands low after impact. the path into follow through should really be quite high, almost upwards, by the left side of your head (right handers).
i get comments all the time about my finish being too high and not text book, but i no longer swing "text book".....so what!.
i think an impact bag may help you....or while you are waiting for your turn on the tee, find some rough grass, and spend a few minutes with a shorter iron and LEFT HAND ONLY making some three quarter swings, paying attention too your left thumb and feeling it press against shaft of the club and the resistance of the grass. this could well prevent you from "letting go" too early..
fore me it's "always remember whatever club, HANDS MUST LEAD THE CLUBHEAD" not "push the clubhead past the hands"
hope i made sense.......
