Range session, got my tac tic device, brought it on, no click in swing, just a little wrist action in my short game strokes. Hit balls for 2 hours with the device on, and an hour off.
Had maybe the best range session as far, acuracy, stance, grip with loose right hand/arm started to work really well.
Worked on head behind ball, follow trough and finish over left ear. Still a bit to go but the motion seems to work really well. When I feel fine, I be working on the woosh drill for speed. Identified one main flaw, slide and weight shift into the left side. Gonna work on behind and creating leverage from the backswing into left ear follow trough.
The grip pressure really pays of. I was way hard before even when I thought I was loose.
Sliced the driver, shoulders way open. Fixed it by facing ball at impact. Opposite drag worked well for acuracy and speed.
Distance is ok, better ball impact even if it isnt optimal yet. Soon the courses open up for some real field testing.

1 round at my home course it open today 10 days early, woo hoo.
I am not sure I like symple swing, the swing hits the ball where I aim it, whats that about?
I had 11 greens in reg. 1 birdie, and 8 par, and shot a 84. 6 over my personal best.
Some smaller things got my score up, 3 fat hits, head move with shoulder drop, sucked. Dropped like 7 shots with those. hehe.
What I did found on my practice round earlier in the morning was the distinction of having the body still. I never had the lower body still, ever. Now, today I found out how that was like and felt like.
So, since the course open up, away I went. I had fun, no shot was hard or complicated, I looked forward to play again and have some time to practice putting and distance.
The swing works fine, I still need some practice time to get it automatic, however felt really easy and the shots I had went where I aimed them.
I was about 2 clubs longer with my irons than last year, and I hit my driver around 240-260 yards a little short but I am getting there. The distance was improved from last year.
And acuracy was way up.
Not sure how to judge this round, it felt good, hit really good shots, bad putting and some distance judgement cost me a few shots, I did however overall play really well.
It felt like I could shoot par tomorow

Ok so a little small condensed experience of the two days playing at my home course.
- one sandsave, 2m from pin and bidie putt.
Had backspin hoho. - put a drive at 290 yards middle of fairway.
my best drive ever on that hole. best in my golf life actually heh. -
I hit a lot of really good shots, and I hit some also really ugly ones.
Greens not ready yet, and same goes for fairway. However, the shots needs to be made to score well.
Greens in reg was 66% and 33%, fairways around 65% or so for both rounds. Putting has improved I made several long putts, over 5m for birdies and some outside green.
I loose shots due to not having a good sensation yet in how to swing properly. (consistency a little off) I can hit a good shot and then suddenly a fat one. Most of times its easy to self correct, I am however in need of some more practice time to get it habitual.
I be working on that the next week.
My drives can be really good, and then not so good, loosing to much distance. I am however able to hit them long when I do things properly, which for me is good enough to actually play an easier golf course. Than before.
I guess I am able to shoot par or even under without to much practice. Was 8 over after 13 holes. Had made 2 birdies and some pars and 3 double bogies. Then bad shot, chip over green (topped) chip back and 3 putts hehe. then bogie, bogie, and double bogie, and all due to some missjudgment in distance. and last I hit good drive, 9i over green, chipped over green, chipped short (duffed) and then I nailed the putt from 6m. (golf)
If I analyze my rounds I can conclude this, I am not much off, just a little short, from time to time with driver. irongame is often pretty acurate, I had not been able to hit all the clean shots I would like. I loose some shots due to the shortgame where I am not as yet comfortable with my shots to judge distance.
My state is pretty good out there even when tired. I noticed I wasnt all that focused to just go and hit the shots, a little to much around the swing as yet.
Overall, I can feel my game has improved massivly, I hit longer and with better accuracy. Putting even with bad greens are a God send. So much better. I still dont swing as good and habitual as I need to be, still not follow trough properly, to much lower body movement, to much shoulder drop for fat shots. Not enough power thumb and straight left hand on short game.
My practice must focus on, lower body still, and follow trough to left ear. straight left hand and use of power thumb for short game. If I can get those improved the following week, I will shoot into the 70´s and maybe even lower. Handicap will go down no matter what.

Day of so went to the range for some practice.
Got some nice disticntions, felt the power triangle. Found set up flaw was open in my hips. adjusted.
Worked on left shoulder/arm/hand swinging trough the ball. Started to feel how its suppose to be with flat hand trough impact.
Had more straight shots doing that.
Play tomorow.

best round of the year in the swing department. had one bad shot in all day and one tee shot that was a little off. still shot a 87 but having 11 chips and only one chip 1 putt slows things down and then 2 three putts really didnt work well.
I am glad tho, I could hit long and straight shots most of time.
My chipping was to tight right hand. Checked it after the round and worked much better.
I could feel the left arm drag trough some shots during the day which was the idea I been working on. Felt nice and I had some good shots, to bad I didnt chip better.
Had two double bogies but both was things that might happen. Overall, felt really good out there today.
Practice on chipping next time and more putting. And left arm drag.
Had several drivers that was good distance, almost where I want them to be. Much easier to play now distance wise.

Was aiming to practice left arm dominant when swinging. did good. People showed up after a while so I follow them for a round. So cold and none out here playing I thought I would enjoy some company.
The swing is much improved. left arm starts to really work.
Still to do, piching, needs more offensive, been to short. chipping is better and putting is adjusted and now work fine after some practice.
Tomorow, I hope all my game is on so I can score at the level I play.

Another round of golf. Getting tired, slept after 27 holes for an hour or so, totaly exhausted.
However, shot 87, now, I managed to make 10 at a par 5 after 2 penalty shots, hit my own club, grr. I however almost made green on the 8, a par 5 it stopped in the fooregreen after 2 shots, my best ever result on that hole, and after a chip and 1 putt, an easy birdie was made.
Greens in reg, 38% and fairways 46%. Putting is improved, not as good with distance control with lag putting to many 3 putts where the distance is off, often short, due to slow greens. Its getting better and I practice lag putting more.
Chipping is improved, revised the dvd on short game, made some small adjustment.
I am also start to hit the balls further, allowing for more power.
What is still lacking are, distance control on short irons. Hit so long I need to adjust what club I am going to use is a new fun sensation. I hit drive and have maybe an 8iron to go where I often had drive/spoon last year.(ys I did hit it short) Much easier game now. To low greens in reg, however, when I miss, its often close by, either on the foregreen or just close by.
I need to check and maybe change my approach to greens, since the greens are huge I think that I can make 18 of 18 with a good solid round and at least get 15/18 more consistent.
This morning I worked on left arm, short wedges, solid hits. and chipping and putting. I never play this good golf ever, and my game score wise isnt showing what I am doing out there. Played 9 extra holes, hit a drive on the 9hole that was my best ever on that hole, had some wind with me but still a great boost.
Gonna re-think my approach strategy to greens with irons. Going to check my state before I start the round making sure its the one I want to play from. Going to feel the power triangle in the backswing.
More work to do.

Played a round today. shot 78. equals my best ever score. felt easy and simple out there.
Had 69% fairways and 61% greens and had no bad shot out there. Worked on the putting and chipping before I went out and played. Improved a lot but lag putting and chipping must be practiced a little more. Not as consistent close to what I want to be. had 33% up and downs and 66% chip 2 putt. Not bad but not good enough. Leaving to much for chance when I chip like that.
I did hit one chip so good I got to much backspin on it, had a wedge 60 degree, 15m to pin hit it and it was left 4m short due to it checked up so quickly, sucked to hit the shots so good now that I need to adjust that heh.
well, tomorow, chip and putt. then play more Playstation golf.

working on chipping, putting and feel/sensation of backswing/follow trough. Felt good and crisps shot adds some height.
Game skill is up, had 60% greens in reg today on both rounds. Improvment is 25%.
Losing to many shots on up and downs, only 15% chip and 1 putt. 65% chip and 2 putt.
and 3 putts are really to many still. Improvement are slow but getting better.
Keep on working then will continue the current plan.

worked on follow trough. at home and on range. took it out on the course. disaster, shot 99. However kept working on follow trough and it became a little better.
Took a break, went out and played directly. shot 80. 4, 3putts, one lost ball, slow greens, missed 2 birdies from 2 yard and one yard, long straight shots, good distance and a new ballflight as a cause of working with the follow trough. More higher and ball stopped faster on greens. Hit 12 greens. Greens to slow and not cut properly so putting isnt acurate in any way atm.
Continue working on follow trough on range, a must to get me the distance and acuracy I need.
Must hit the ball closer, putting is good but bad greens make it a hazard.

Hot today again, 25c in the shadows.
Played a round. Good chipping and putting. Some long shots not so good so only 81 again. Was not happy when I made a tripple bogey at 14 but the bad shot was bad. But only 1, 3 putt which was ok due to the putt was hard to read.
Spent a bucket after on the range, worked the swing and adjusted to a good solid ballhit. Spent a few minutes checking chipping and putting.
My game feels solid atm, good chipping, good pitching, long game needs some tweaks but its getting there. Putting is good.
Gonna rest tomorow and then be ready for a game with a friend on friday. we have some small competition and he said he smoke me.

Played with some friends today, shot 80. (won the match) Worked on the keep the lower body still all round. Hit straight shots. Got some issues due to not being able to move which was good even if I lost some distance and some good shots by being acustomed to the moving body.
I made an eagle at 13, a short par 5, driver, 6i and I hit the 6m putt into the hole.
I found my flaw, it is a lower body issue. Gonna fix that the next range sessions I do and also to make sure I lead with left side making swoosh and will focus on short irons to get a good ballcontact. My ironplay today was not good due to me being still with my body.
had 60% fairways, 33% greens in reg, however, I hit all shots straight. No problem with off hits. Putted better due to greens being cut, 29 putts. 9 pars and one eagle and no birdies.
I made progress today. I need to work my left side, and chipping a little more. The lower body focus helped finding my biggest issue. I expect the next round to be a low 70.
I know what to do and work on to get there.

flopper wow - congrats on good round/ great progress both in score and id of problem. remember = lower body still does not mean loss of distance it actually increases distance as you isolate the lower body and have a 'force shift' increasing upper body uncoil as your weight stays back - (go online - espn or type in google for baseball home run hitter video) see home run hitter have much more bat speed than weight shifting 'singles' hitter. you must 'feel' that lower body quiet is no hip rotation// it is always with backswing if chest or shirt button gets 90 degree turn then allow for right hip to turn 45 or belt buckle is 1/2 of shirt button.... and same on follow thru allow for chest uncoil// a MUST is belt buckle and shirt button are back to square to ball on contact - not open with hips// and then on follow thru both are 'finishing' at the hole with hands above left ear. WITH weight still under back knee with front leg posted -- basically not accepting full weight shift.
good luck / hit me with any questions / review basic instructional and power tips for visual explanation
i really appreciate your posts and dedication to the game and for putting sps to the test/ i know you are going to go low once swing is grooved then it is all mental in approach and application of good swings.

Thx Mike.
I was looking at the DVD of the power, looked at your positions in your body when finishing hitting that 113mph drive, then I duplicated them at home, and thought geee, I am not there in my finish position at all. Tried some air swings at home that felt much better, went to the range, rain, cold, but I had to go and try this out.
It had all the elements you posted here. I got more power, hit better shots with higher ballflight and finnaly got some few points down, head behind over right knee, feel of baseball hitters, felt effortless, but overall I got a big smile out there. Best range session this year.
Slowly I am moving forward. Going out a round tomorow, no matter the conditions, I feel like I could really score out there now. Found the feel of chipp shots and hit really good ones.
I will get the time one day to video the swing. Currently I dont have the right tools at home to do a firewire transfer.

short game works well.
Long game is a disaster. Tried working with no hands, more power lately.
All gone, carry the driver 150 yards, shots thin, fat, and all over the place. When I hit, its to short, no power, no distance, no accuracy and did I say, NO consistency? I feel like I am back to doing things the old way with short distance and no consistency.
Played 27 holes shot 36 over with 6 lost balls.
I identified, not follow trough, lower body still but upper body tries to compensate, weight on left side at finish, need to work the right side and find out what to do.
Range is better but short, no power, no distance and acuracy is ok.
I can play the long game at my homecourse as I have had it, but it isnt enough for where I want to go.
Therefore, more power is needed, more distance, and the swing is currently sucking badly.
ah well, back tomorow and working on it.

Working to find more power and distance. Disaster has happen. Not suprised, back to old length of distance, driver 150 yards, etc.. lot of mis****s etc..
Analyzing this, after the round , its obvious going for more distance allows me to do more faults than its healthy to do. The result is counterproductive to what I want. So, when going for more distance, ie power, something obviously happens. What concerns me is the lack of what people call "feel of positions". I can play ok at my homecourse, no trouble doing that, however if I am going to play where I am aiming for, I need more distance to be competive.
What troubles me is that I am used to the idea, if something works, then I can do it a little faster to improve velocity. When I try that swinging, it goes down the drain. So, maybe its something I do after I done the backswing or its happen as I set the position, either not doing that right and properly or that I do something when going down into the downswing. If I would do some baseball batting, I could swing as hard as I want, and improve on that easly.
So, at home, in the dark, the candles burning midnight oil, I might have found what I havent done at all or even properly, that I be testing on the range first and then playing a round tomorow.
I was not happy out there today, its silly that when swinging a club that I cant hit a small white ball on the ground that stands absolutly still properly as I want to.
The quest continues, obviously I need to find something I havent done or needs to be doing properly.

Flopper,
Golf can be frustrating, can't it? Keep at it and enjoy the time you have. I'm sure you'll recover your swing.
I'm not an "expert" on this but I can achieve swing speeds in the 110mph+ range when I try. What I've learned is this: if one wants to swing "faster", one must begin by swinging slower, longer, and more efficiently. Have you ever tried swinging a broom? The resistance created by swinging a broom forces you to slow your body so that everything is smooth, relaxed, and synchronized. As we relax our muscles the swing gets longer, too. The "whoosh" of the broom gets louder as you swing more smoothly (i.e. the axis of your torso from belly-button to neck doesn't shift around), more relaxed, and let your torso do the work. It also gets louder the more still you keep your head and lead hip as you swing. Everything else is passive, including your arms, shoulders, and hands.
Beyond that, the strength and flexibility of your mid and lower torso contribute significantly to swing speed. I've studied the physics behind movement and one thing is certain: you can't do anything that your torso is not strong enough to support, with good balance. Dancers and figure skaters cannot spin without strong hips and abdomen, and neither can golfers. Strengthen your hips, abdomen, and lower back muscles and you will increase your potential swing speed. |

Golf frustrating?

What is the issue for me is not strength or speed, I got plenty in other sports. Its technical, when trying to go for more speed, either it be harder, slower, more relaxed etc..dont work due to I am not doing things technically right.
Now, finding what to do is the hard part, on the golfcourse I seldom try to change what I do to much, I leave the flaw department at home and at the range.
What I did was to ask myself, how come I dont get speed even when doing a faster motion/movement? Then I go and check the dvd, I test things and found one thing that I might not done properly is the elbows not pointing down properly, when testing, I came out as I did it currently, when keeping the elbows more togheter I achived more speed, and could go faster/harder/lighter and create more speed doe to the movement being more straight down into the downswing with no compensations along the way.
Feeling that, allowed me to sense how speed was there in the clubhead and wooshed nicely. But also, to create more speed with balance and not sensing restrictions along the way made it obvious how restricted I been before.
I know the old habitual moves, is not felt consiously, that happens due to been done to long and finding out how and what to do properly by just watching the dvd´s and testing is a long process of feedback. Obviously, frustrating, irritating and anoying and so on due to a lack of patience since I am on a timetable here
However, I am always looking for what works, and this also means, I keep on trying to find the feel/sensation that should be there when the moves are correct. Measure, ballflight, quality of hit, and consistency in play allows that to be as accurate as possible.
as long I dont get my 300 yard drives, I keep on trying to get there.

The elbows also showed me how the clubshaft pointed to flat due to not doing this properly, which again allows a compensation to occour. re-routing shaft due to elbows not aligned properly, and finding this out allow me to check with speed, and that came easly when doing this more elbow togheter ie pointing downwards.
In every other sport, I have a good sensation or feel doing the motions, but in Golf that havent happen yet. its not like, oh I do this and then I be ripping it down the line, yet watching long hitters its obvious how fast they do swing the club.
When trying to emulate that speed, what happens to me is a fall down of technique. then at least it points me to where I need to practice.

Went to the range, worked on elbows, felt better. worked on short game. played nine holes, 13 over, missed all greens.
hit a bucket, mostly bad shots, found some good ones. played nine more holes, shot 7 over, one green in reg.
distance is off, good shots is absent, no power, to much body movement. short game was ok, just not inspired to be on edge there as the long game lacks the important criteria of acuracy and distance.
driver carry around 175yards. hit a 200 carry on range wih bad balls, heh.
Gonna process this training day and see what pops up tomorow. I feel like I am moving into the right direction, the day was an improvement.

Du to my troubles getting power and distance, I went and changed my grip to an interlocking one. This felt better and more stable for my hands, it was good to use a 3 finger overlapp and learn the right hand off sensation. I fetl more connected using the interlocking grip which translated to being able to go for it more.
Using this interlocking grip with power thumb I made improvements to distance and acuracy. Played almost the same level as before yesterday. shot 87 but had a few bad shots the first nine holes which I didnt mind due to how new this was.
I am going down the range and work on this today and amplify the head still and work on increasing swing speed. Main criteria is to get a better ballflight and consistent ballstriking.
