These exercises target the fast twitch muscle fibers. For those that have never heard of these, muscles are made up of fibers, some slow twitch and some fast twitch. As we age the fast twitch fibers begin to diminish. Whereas the slow twitch are predominantly for strength, the fast twitch are for speed and power. We especially need the fast twitch fibers in the golf swing. They help to maintain balance and timing. For those interested in looking into this subject, the folks at the Prevention magazine have a series of exercises, the ones that I do, obtainable through the following link.

http://www.prevention.com/cda/article/the-essential-over-40-workout/111d3476be8b2210VgnVCM10000030281eac____/fitness/body.by.design/total.body.toning/0/0/1

Read through each of the pages, then decide if this is for you. You can always add your own particular exercise to the list, for example add the ones that Mike is doing on the DVD. Note, it is important to do the first part of the exercises fast and then release slowly. I know that this works. Doing it.

El

Anchor point (November 10 2009 10:16:30 AM)

There are 3 replies, with the last one on November 10 2009 at 10:16:30 AM by simpleswing

New forum folder (October 29 2009 12:03:21 AM)

There are 2 replies, with the last one on October 29 2009 at 12:03:21 AM by bkroon
