The practice is paying off and I'm sure enjoying the improvement. Just wanted to share something that is hopefully of help.

Came up with a couple of exercises that I've ran by Joe and Mike, got a good response back from Joe and decided to put up a video of the drills. I've been getting some real positive results and they're easy to do, but understand I'm not a trainer. If you have wrist or elbow problems, and I've been there, please be careful and don't overdo them. I'm actually enjoying some improved strength and flexibility by doing this, and my control of the putter has really improved in just a week.

I started thinking of the putter as a training aid because of it's heft, just like a weighted club, and Mike demonstrates this in the instruction. Just make practice swings with it, keep swinging it. Exercising with the club seems to be helping with my right hand dominance as well, they are starting to work together and my left hand is starting to lead the way. Putts are rolling well.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8102423891508364285

The first exercise I do choked up, thumb and forefinger below the grip on the shaft. Be careful of this, your elbow might not like it if you're on the end of the handle. Try to keep the face square, arms straight-don't hinge the elbow and let the club swing to about horizontal/parallel while the handle passes under the forearm. Smooth pendulum swings with a bit of stretch, palm face up and palm face down. One hand at a time, same number of reps (back and forth counts as 1)for each hand to balance.

Then I do normal swings (back and forth as 1) with a normal grip in the anchor position, again with each hand. Smooth pendulum swings with the club face square. I want my hands balanced and working together, so I want to do the same amount with each hand.

Then put your hands together and make pendulum swings as Mike demonstrates in the instruction. Using this club as a training aid has helped my stroke immensely in just a week, give it a try if you're starting out and having a bit of trouble. Model it after other exercise you've done, maybe start with 5 reps of each and then put both hands together for 5 more as a warmup. Maybe increase the reps and do them alternating days for a workout. I think you will feel these, so don't get carried away and stay within your limits.

Hope this helps and have fun!

Best,
Kurt

just relax (August 06 2008 09:34:30 AM)

Both Mike and Chuck have told me I need to just need to relax. I was to tense with my swing. I ended up trying to swing too hard with too much tension.

I played golf at a tough course on Saturday. Started bad, then began to relax, then I felt my arms being loose and started just smashing my drivers. Out driving everyone the rest of the day.

The course has a lot of sand and i can not get out of the sand at all.

the other thing was the bent grass fairways a little trouble with long irons and fairway woods off them. i hitting some fatt or tops with fairway woods. Just not use to those tight lies. In your Playing Lesson Part I & II, you talk about using your 52 degree (Gap Wedge) and your 56 degree (sand wedge) but really do not indicate why you chose either wedge. I own all 4 wedges (Pitch, Gap(52), Sand (56) and lob (60) and understand when to use them for approach shots when I am using a full swing and know my yardage for each (by the way, great info in Playing Lesson about using the pitching stance to improve accuracy on approach shots when you are 100 yds from the green). However, close to the green, is there any guidelines for which wedge to use?

Your playing lesson dvds are great. Especially Part II with a student. I had several problems that the student had and being able to listen and watch what the corrections were really helped me understand my problem and how to fix it.

Final piece of puzzle!
